Free Family Law Seminar in August

Project Self-Sufficiency will sponsor a free seminar about issues related to Family Law on Wednesday, August 16 th , from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the agency’s campus, located at 127 Mill Street in Newton.     The program will address child support, grounds for divorce, court procedures, custody, alimony, parenting time, equitable distribution of assets, and other topics related to divorce.   The presentation, which will be facilitated by Sussex County attorney Mariann Murphy, Esquire, is free and open to the public, but registration is required.   To register call Project Self-Sufficiency at 973-940-3500.

Free Back-to-School Fair in August

Parents and children are invited to Project Self-Sufficiency’s 14 th annual Back-to-School Fair on Thursday, August 17 th , from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.   The event is designed to prepare the entire family for a successful academic year.   Workshops will give parents tips about communication, dealing with anger, nutrition and healthy relationships.   Meanwhile, children can get free haircuts, play games and receive back packs brimming with free school supplies.   Representatives from local social service organizations will be on hand to discuss topics ranging from healthcare to household safety to literacy.   Agency staff members and volunteers will distribute free school supplies, play games, organize crafts, and provide refreshments.   Attendees will be also be eligible to receive a $250 Shop Rite gift card.   The event will be co-sponsored by Connect for Community, a program designed to bring together volunteers from all ages and backgrounds to provide food and toiletries to food pan

Free College Assistance Information Sessions in August

Information sessions regarding the Campus to Campus initiative offered by Project Self-Sufficiency in conjunction with Sussex County Community College will be held in August.   Free child care, basic skills testing, counseling, campus tours, test anxiety support, access to financial aid and scholarships, and other services are available through the program.   Interested adults are invited to attend Information Sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, August 15 th and 17 th , 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.; August 22 nd and 24 th , 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.; or August 29 th and 31 st , 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.     The Campus to Campus program is designed to help potential students overcome the challenges that are preventing them from taking the next steps towards college and a career; young adults who have never enrolled or older adults who did not attend college are invited to attend.   If assessment testing has been an obstacle, the College Board Accuplacer exam, a suite of tests which accurately
