Free Summer Office Skills Training Program for Women

Free job skills training program for women starts in July. Project Self-Sufficiency will offer a free, 8-week training program for women, including lessons in computer skills, job search methods, and interview techniques, along with on-the-job training at a community work site on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., from July 9 th – August 29th.   Open Houses about the Summer Office Skills program will be offered at 10:00 a.m., Mondays, June 3 rd and June 24 th ; at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19 th and Friday, June 21st; and at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11 th and Wednesday, June 26 th .   All classes will take place at the agency’s campus which is located at 127 Mill Street in Newton.   Work sites will be located throughout the county and hours will be dependent upon the employer’s needs. Free Employment Skills Training for Women Starts in February

Project Self-Sufficiency announces that the spring session of its popular employment training program, Higher Opportunities for Women (HOW), will launch February 13th.   The 16-week HOW Program combines intensive computer skills training with classroom instruction and off-site internships to prepare women who have been out of the work force or underemployed to seek entry-level office administrative positions.     Computer training and classroom instruction will take place at the agency’s campus, located at 127 Mill Street in Newton.   Interested participants are encouraged to attend an Open House to learn more about the program.   Open Houses will be held at 10:00 a.m. on January 8 th and 29 th , at January 24 th at 1:00 p.m., and at 6:00 p.m. on January 11 th and 16 th . Women who take part in the agency’s HOW program can expect 80 hours of computer skills training, including instruction in Microsoft Word, Excel and other applications.  ...

Seminars and Raffles Featured at Career Fair

Attendees who visit the Career Fair at Project Self-Sufficiency on Thursday, May 11 th , will be entered to win a $250 Shop Rite gift card, and have the opportunity to fine-tune their interview skills and attend multiple workshops in addition to meeting with area employers.   The Career Fair, open 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., is designed for job seekers, those who need assistance with job search techniques, and people who need help navigating their current workplace.   Representatives from more than 25 local businesses and educational institutions will be on hand to promote job openings and scholastic opportunities.   Interview skills workshops will allow participants to practice interview techniques and obtain valuable feedback from seasoned professionals.   Resume-writing workshops and seminars about using Linked In will be facilitated by Project Self-Sufficiency Career Center staff.   The Career Fair is free and open to the public; no registration is required...
