News from Project Self-Sufficiency

  Area residents are invited to boost their careers and their health by attending an innovative Career & Health Fair hosted by Project Self-Sufficiency , Wednesday, October 16 th , 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.   Local employers and educational institutions will be on hand to promote job openings and scholastic opportunities. In addition, flu and covid vaccines will be administered by ACME , vision screenings will be offered by the Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired , and representatives from area healthcare organizations will offer the latest information about the health and well-being of children and families.   Fun, interactive activities for parents and children will be available at a free Family Health Expo hosted by Project Self-Sufficiency on Wednesday, April 24 th , 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.   Representatives from local health organizations will be on hand to discuss resources for the health and well-being of children and families, and presentations will be offered about adverse childhood experiences, child abuse prevention, the stages of appropriate childhood development, breast health, and positive parenting techniques. The Newton Volunteer First Aid & Rescue Squad will offer ambulance tours for kids.
