Academic and Work Skills Training Programs Enrolling Now

  Spaces are still available in Project Self-Sufficiency’s “Higher Opportunities for Women” employment skills training program as well as in the agency’s New Jersey Youth Corps program for high school dropouts. Both programs are free; eligible applicants are invited to call Project Self-Sufficiency, 973-940-3500, or enroll online at www.projectselfsufficiency.org .   In-person training takes place at the agency’s Newton campus, 127 Mill Street. Free Job Skills Training Program for Women Starts in April

Project Self-Sufficiency announces that the next session of its popular employment skills training program, Higher Opportunities for Women (HOW), will launch April 8th.   The 16-week HOW Program combines intensive computer skills training with classroom instruction and has been reconfigured for a hybrid of in-person and virtual experiences, due to the ongoing public health crisis.   Curriculum prepares women who have been out of the work force or underemployed to seek entry-level office administrative positions.   Classes will operate Mondays and Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. through July 29 th .   In-person instruction will take place at the agency’s campus, located at 127 Mill Street in Newton.     Women who take part in the agency’s HOW program can expect 80 hours of computer skills training, including instruction in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other applications.    Normally, the HOW program also includes 40 hou...

Free Summer Office Skills Training Program for Women

Free job skills training program for women starts in July. Project Self-Sufficiency will offer a free, 8-week training program for women, including lessons in computer skills, job search methods, and interview techniques, along with on-the-job training at a community work site on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., from July 9 th – August 29th.   Open Houses about the Summer Office Skills program will be offered at 10:00 a.m., Mondays, June 3 rd and June 24 th ; at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19 th and Friday, June 21st; and at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11 th and Wednesday, June 26 th .   All classes will take place at the agency’s campus which is located at 127 Mill Street in Newton.   Work sites will be located throughout the county and hours will be dependent upon the employer’s needs.
