Sussex County Surrogate Gary Chiusano recently visited the Little Sprouts Early Learning Center to read several books to the children as part of the school’s Celebrity Reader program.   The Little Sprouts Early Learning Center is operated by Project Self-Sufficiency, a local non-profit agency which offers a wide variety of services to families in northwestern New Jersey.   “It is truly a pleasant experience to participate in the reading program for the ‘little sprouts’ at Project Self Sufficiency,” commented Chiusano.   “Although there were quite a few smiling faces among the children, it was because of them that my smile may have been the biggest one of all.” Little Sprouts Early Learning Center features separate classrooms for each age group, from infancy through preschool.   Fully-qualified teachers are available in each school room and the child-teac...

Free Computer Classes and Career Guidance Available during April

Those who are interested in upgrading their computer skills or brushing up on job searching techniques are invited to try out one of the free courses offered at Project Self-Sufficiency.   During April, classes in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook will be held, along with a course in QuickBooks accounting software, and a course designed specifically for senior citizens.   Other seminars will cover the use of Linked In, along with sessions about resume development, interview skills, financial management, and other topics.   Goal exploration, skills assessment and classes in interpersonal growth will also be offered.   Daytime and evening options are available.   All courses will take place in the agency’s Career Center, which is located at 127 Mill Street in Newton.   Students must be registered Family Success Center or Project Self-Sufficiency participants.  The agency has recently launched a weekly job club and other s...
