Holiday Stress Management Workshop Offered

  Parents and community members are invited to learn techniques for managing holiday stress at a virtual meeting of the Project Sussex Kids General Council, Wednesday, October 14 th , at 10:00 a.m. via Zoom.   Participants will also receive an update on Project Sussex Kids activities.   The presentation will be facilitated by author, therapist, and life coach Diane Lang.   The meeting is free and open to the public; interested participants are invited to call Project Self-Sufficiency at 973-940-3500 for log-in details. Thank You for Giving Hope to Thousands of Families this Year

On any given day in the month of December, a little bit of magic happens on the Project Self-Sufficiency campus: A racing boat packed with toys docks in the parking lot, college and high school students deliver thousands of freshly-baked cookies, a caravan of trucks laden with toys from the Santa Train draws up, scores of volunteers from local businesses and schools help to sort toys, a school bus disgorges thousands of gifts collected by local children.   The result is a beautifully-arranged toy shop made available to more than 1,000 families selecting toys for more than 2,100 children and teens from our community this year.   This is the Season of Hope.   This is what it looks like to live in a community that cares.   The Season of Hope Toy Shop was made possible by so many generous and caring neighbors who contributed in a multitude of ways.   This letter cannot begin to list them all, but we would like to acknowledge several.   First, ...

Seeking Holiday Donations for Local Senior Citizens

Local non-profit agency Project Self-Sufficiency in conjunction with the Earth Angels senior citizen initiative is seeking donations to provide holiday cheer to local senior citizens during December.   The team is soliciting monetary donations and gift cards, along with select items for distribution to home-bound seniors in December.   Volunteers will stuff bags with the cards and gifts and hand-deliver the items to seniors during the week leading up to Christmas.   Along with monetary donations, suggested items for donations include gift cards from local retailers such as Harmon’s, Hayek’s, Kohl’s, Marshall’s, Shop Rite, Stop & Shop, Wal-Mart, Weis and the hair salons at the Homestead and Liberty Towers senior residences.   Donations of b ath, hand and kitchen towels, flashlights, batteries, magnifying glasses, jar openers, nightlights, foaming hand soap, small bottles of dish detergent, postage stamps, crossword puzzles, word searches, first aid it...
