Free Health Care Careers Seminar this Month

A free seminar about health care careers will be offered to teens and adults on Wednesday, May 30 th , from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Project Self-Sufficiency.   Dr. Tim Parker will be joined by Registered Nurse Lisa Ferrante and Sussex County Community College Director of Admissions Todd Poltersdorf for a discussion of the background, education and the skills necessary for success.   Questions from the audience will be welcome.   “Becoming You:   Health Care Careers” will explore educational and professional opportunities in vocations such as nurse, dentist, physician, EKG technician, medical assistant, phlebotomist and other medical careers.   The seminar is free and open to teens and adults, but registration is required.   Interested participants are encouraged to call 973-940-3500 or 844-807-3500 to register.   Project Self-Sufficiency is located at 127 Mill Street in Newton.

Free Animal Care Careers Seminar this Month

A free seminar about animal care careers will be offered to teens and adults on Wednesday, March 28 th , from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Project Self-Sufficiency.   Dr. Linda Krotje Wall, veterinarian at the Tranquility Animal Clinic, will be joined by Father John’s Animal House Shelter Operations Manager Garrett Barcheski and Dr. Jesslyn Bryk-Lucy, Assistant Professor of Equine Studies at Centenary University, for a discussion of the background, education and the skills necessary for success.   Questions from the audience will be welcome.   “Becoming You:   Animal Care Careers” will explore vocations such as veterinarian, veterinary technician, horse trainer, stable owner, canine behavior specialist, animal shelter manager, and other professions.   The seminar is free and open to teens and adults, but registration is required.   Interested participants are encouraged to call 973-940-3500 or 844-807-3500 to register.   Project Self-Sufficiency is located...

Free Computer Classes and Career Assistance Available at Project Self-Sufficiency

Those who are interested in upgrading their computer skills or brushing up on job searching techniques are invited to try out one of the free courses offered at Project Self-Sufficiency.   During August, classes about QuickBooks accounting software and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook courses will be held, as well as sessions about computer skills and internet safety for senior citizens.   A special Men’s Lab is offered weekly.   Regularly-scheduled career seminars cover Linked In, resume development, interview skills, financial management, and other topics.   Goal exploration, skills assessment and classes in interpersonal growth will also be offered.   Daytime and evening options are available.   All courses will take place in the agency’s Career Center, which is located at 127 Mill Street in Newton.   Students must be registered Family Success Center or Project Self-Sufficiency participants.  Weekly job club and o...
