Those who are interested in upgrading their computer skills or brushing
up on job searching techniques are invited to try out one of the free courses
offered at Project Self-Sufficiency.
During August, classes about QuickBooks accounting software and Microsoft
Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook courses will be held, as well as sessions about
computer skills and internet safety for senior citizens. A special Men’s Lab is offered weekly. Regularly-scheduled career seminars cover
Linked In, resume development, interview skills, financial management, and
other topics. Goal exploration, skills
assessment and classes in interpersonal growth will also be offered. Daytime and evening options are
available. All courses will take place
in the agency’s Career Center, which is located at 127 Mill Street in
Newton. Students must be registered Family Success Center or
Project Self-Sufficiency participants.
Weekly job club and other services to assist
residents with their job search. Other Project
Self-Sufficiency Career Center programs include help with obtaining a high
school equivalency diploma; job training for women, teens and young adults;
career counseling and assessment; Job Start and Job Search
services. Interested participants are encouraged to contact the
agency for a schedule.
