RoNetco Supermarkets and Hinkley Auto Sales recently joined together to
provide a newly-refurbished car to Project Self-Sufficiency participant Asia
Bryant. The vehicle was previously owned
by RoNetco Supermarkets and had been used by the firm for company business. After being taken out of service, the car was
thoroughly detailed by Hinkley Auto Sales and then donated to Project
Self-Sufficiency, a local non-profit agency which specializes in services for
low-income families in the New Jersey counties of Sussex, Morris, Warren, and
Hunterdon.
A mother of a teenage daughter, Bryant works the overnight shift as a
caretaker for developmentally disabled adults.
She had been relying on co-workers and family members for
transportation. “I was in shock. I could not stop smiling for about a week,”
explains Bryant upon being notified that she would be receiving the
vehicle. “Not only does this car help me
get back and forth to work, but receiving it has elevated my faith as
well. It helps me to continue to be
self-sufficient and to provide for myself and my daughter, and it also helps me
to provide care for the people I work with.
They depend on me to be on time.
It has helped an entire community of people.”
“It is extremely difficult to function as a family in our area without
access to a reliable vehicle,” commented Deborah Berry-Toon, Executive Director
of Project Self-Sufficiency. “This participant
was in desperate need of a car, and we are delighted to be able to pass this
van along to her. RoNetco Supermarkets
is a partner in caring for their neighbors’ families, homes and
communities. We are tremendously
grateful to RoNetco Supermarkets and Hinkley Auto Sales for their role in this
effort. Project Self-Sufficiency has
been fortunate to be the recipient of several vehicles from individuals and area
businesses, and we will continue to welcome the donation of good quality,
pre-owned vehicles from our neighbors for families in need.”
Non-profit agency Project Self-Sufficiency
is celebrating its 30th year of service to families in northwestern
New Jersey. The agency’s mission is to
provide a broad spectrum of holistic, respectful, and comprehensive services
enabling low-income single parents, teen parents, two-parent families, and
displaced homemakers to achieve personal and economic self-sufficiency, family
