Hundreds of local
job seekers got a jump start on their employment search at a unique Career Fair
hosted by Project Self-Sufficiency. In
addition to learning about job openings and educational opportunities,
attendees were able to attend workshops designed to boost their job searching
experience. Volunteers Jodi
Butler, Cheri Larson, Kim Oliynik and Laura Post from Mars, Inc., facilitated
workshops about resume-writing, interview skills and the job search
process. Participants were able to
practice interview techniques and obtain valuable feedback from seasoned
professionals.
“Hosting frequent
Career Fairs gives Project Self-Sufficiency the opportunity to offer a means
for our own participants, as well as members of the public, to interface with
employers who are actively recruiting, as well as learn about educational
opportunities, pick up new skills and ultimately, land their next job,”
commented Deborah Berry-Toon, Executive Director of Project Self-Sufficiency. “We successfully place hundreds of individuals
in employment during the course of each year, and we are confident that Career
Fairs such as this one positively impact our participants’ job searches.”
