Local non-profit
agency Project Self-Sufficiency will receive $1,000 on April 7th as
part of HSN Cares’ annual $1,000 a day giveaway campaign. The charitable arm of the entity formerly
known as the Home Shopping Network is dedicated to empowering women and helping
families in times of need. The award to
Project Self-Sufficiency will be broadcast on April 7th at 2:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 9:00 p.m. on
HSN.
HSN Cares selected Project Self-Sufficiency from a pool of thousands of entries after
being nominated for the award by Cheryl Ross, who shared with HSN her inspiring
story of courage and dignity as she progressed from Project Self-Sufficiency
participant to serving on the organization’s Board of Directors. “Project Self-Sufficiency helped me and my
children through a challenging time with respect, dignity, and most of all
guidance,” explained Ross, a mother of four who now works for the Newton School
District. “Ten years later, after going
to college, getting a job and becoming self-sufficient, I joined the Board of Directors.
Now I am humbled and honored to give
back to an organization that changed our lives.”
Every year, HSN designates the month of April
as Customer Appreciation Month, highlighting its customers and the communities
in which they live. HSN Cares donates
$1,000 every day during the month of April to charities across the country. Interested viewers can tune in to HSN at 2:00 a.m.,
7:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., or 9:00 p.m. daily in April or visit www.HSN.com and search
HSN Cares to see winning charities announced all month long.
HSN Cares, the philanthropic arm of HSN,
